Lawton

Originally a 1/4 mile dog racing track owned by a Nevada Casino. In 1937, they had the idea of running midget races on which punters could bet. The event was run in the same manner as a horse racing event, with eight races in total. The competing casinos in Reno were unhappy with this development, and allegedly used their influence with the Nevada Highway Division to get the access road "repaired", so that access to the venue was much more inconvenient.
