Baku

A 1.3 mile/2.1 km street circuit used once for the Baku City Challenge on the 27th-28th October 2012.

A new circuit was used for the Baku City Challenge in 2013, now a round of the FIA GT Championship, on the 24th-25th November over a 4.380 km circuit. For the second event on the 2nd November 2014 (now the Blancpain Endurance Series), the circuit was modified - the second chicane was removed due to construction work in the city, and the following right hander was tightened to nearly 90 degrees. The penultimate chicane was removed as the run to the following hairpin was made around 150m shorter.

Following the successful GT races, Azerbaijan decided to go for F1, and Hermann Tilke was hired to design this 6.006 km/3.732 mile street circuit for the Grand Prix of Europe to be held on the 19th June 2016.
