Calafat

Original circuit length=2.496 km.
New circuit length (from 1990)=3.5km

The Calafat circuit was inaugurated in 1974. Constructed on land belonging to the town of the same name, on L'Ametlla de Mar, its promoters were Julían Mangrané and Carmelo Ezpeleta, and it cost 30 million pesetas. As a private initiative, Catalan fans contributed by purchasing shares valued at 25,000 pesetas. The track was designed by the engineer Jordi Xiol. Legal problems caused the track to be temporarily closed during 1982 and 1985.
