A Hermann Tilke designed circuit which first held a Formula 1 race in 2009. The overall circuit length was just under 3.5 miles long (5.554 km), and consisted of three distinct sections - a high speed permanent facility, a winding street section, and a section around the seafront.

In order to improve the racing, the circuit was modified for the 2021 Grand Prix by track consultants MRK1. Turn 7 was reprofiled, with the chicane removed and the hairpin widened. Turns 11-14 were removed and replaced by one long banked turn, and turns 17-20 were opened up. The resulting track length was 5.281 km, and is shown below.
